Welcome back to the Weekly Smash Up where we take a look back at the Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo 3DS & Wii U screenshots Masahiro Sakurai has posted on Miiverse for the past week. This week we start off with a look at Olimar facing off with Giga Mac, which is Little Mac’s Final Smash ability. Olimar states that he and the Pikmin need to be cautious.

Next we take a look at the container the Assist Trophies come in. Sakurai-san states that they can show off colors or blink, including the Color TV-Game 15 one. Not sure if the character inside is just a generic placeholder or supposed to be representative of something, as Sakurai did not elaborate on that, but we shall see.

Moving on we learn that characters stances/positioning will be mirrored, so you’ll get the same general view of the character no matter which side of the screen you happen to be on. The screen shows Mario & Greninja facing off with Mario & Greninja and like Sakurai stated, they do appear to be mirror images of each other (minus the color variations of course).

Then we get some info on the 3DS version. In Team Battles you’ll be able to select whatever color choice you want for your character regardless of your team color. This is achieved by putting a color outline around each character that is their team color. In the screenshot we see Donkey Kong, Mario, Link, & Samus all in their default color schemes whereas in previous Smash games they’d be in Red, Red, Blue, & Blue respectively. No word thus far on whether or not this will be included in the Wii U version.

We wrap up this week with a “new” character reveal. Well, he’s not new to the series, but newly confirmed for Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo 3DS & Wii U. This is of course Ike from the Fire Emblem series, specifically from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. Ike made his first Smash Bros. appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii and these entries will mark his 2nd appearance in the series. This version of Ike is from Radiant Dawn and he will have his Aether ability and his sword will be able to deal heavy damage according to Sakurai-san.
